Teen Singer Miley Cyrus’ Bus Over Turns Killing One

November 20, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a tour bus belonging to Miley Cyrus overturned in Virginia.

According to the Virginia State Police the rollover tour bus accident occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. approximately 40 miles south of Richmond on Interstate 85, killing one person and injuring nine others aboard the tour bus.

According to reports Miley Cyrus was not traveling on the bus at the time of the accident and the tour bus is one of four buses that were traveling to Greenboro North Carolina where the teen singer is scheduled to appear on Sunday.

The Cyrus family has released their support and prayers for the man killed in the accident identifying him as the driver of the bus, an Austin Texas native Bill “Uncle Bill” Douglas age 53. Douglas died at the scene of the rollover.

The nine other passengers sustained minor injuries and were able to escape the over turned tour bus through the front windshield according to reports. Their identities have not been released.

Cyrus, was not on the bus and had taken a plane home to Nashville to relax prior to Sunday’s scheduled appearance. The cause of the crash is still under investigation according to authorities.

Tour Bus Crash Kills 2—Injures Dozens

November 18, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a tour bus crash in Minnesota took the lives of two people and injured many of the passengers on the bus.

According to a spokesperson Andy Skoogman of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety stated there were fatalities in the tour bus crash that occurred about two miles west of Austin. The accident occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. and was a Strain’s Motorcoach bus.

According to Chief Deputy Gene Arnold of Freeborn County stated that six helicopters were sent to the scene of the rolled over bus. Arnold also stated that as many as 22 people were injured in the crash, though their conditions were not known.

A spokesman for Strain’s Motorcoach tour bus lines state that there were 23 on the bus including the driver that is a resident of Rochester Minnesota. The spokesperson stated the tour bus was on a return trip from the Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood Iowa, a weekly Wednesday tour, when it crashed and rolled over.

School Bus Hit and Run Injures Driver

October 20, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a driver suspected of hitting a school bus and fleeing the scene in stolen vehicle. According to police the accident occurred Monday in the vicinity of Phillips Street and San Antonio Avenue shortly after 4:00 p.m. the bus was carrying fifteen children at the time of the hit and run accident and only the driver was injured according to reports.

The children riding the bus were secured in child safety seats at the time of the crash. The suspected hit and run driver was identified as Anthony De Leeuw age 31, who police state ran a stop sign at the corner of Phillips Street and San Antonio Avenue in a Kia Rio. Police have also reported that De Leeuw had stolen the vehicle from his 84 year old grandmother and taken the Kia Rio from her.

The bus upon impact was pushed into a front yard where it then struck a tree. The injured bus driver was transported to a local hospital. Leeuw was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run, vehicle theft, robbery and violating parole, he was taken to the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.

Downtown Semi Crash Injures Two Fatal For One

According to reports and accident that occurred in downtown Los Angeles injured two men and was fatal for the driver of one of the vehicles involved.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. in the vicinity of Sixth Street and the Los Angeles River according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokes person Melissa Kelley.

The truck crash involved a truck and a car; the driver of the car sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The two men in the truck were reportedly in their 30’s and both were transported to the hospital from the scene of the accident with injuries.

The cause of the Los Angeles crash is still under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Double Decker Bus Tips Over With City Football Players Aboard

According to reports a double decker bus tipped over while carrying the season winning football team in Sertaozinho Brazil.

The accident occurred when the bus that was not in good condition was carrying more passengers than was reasonable, which included the winning Sertaozinho football team.

It is reported the bus struck a dip in the road and could not balance correctly. This caused the bus to fall over on its side throwing the football players out of the bus.

There were 29 reported injuries that included broken limbs and one player that sustained a severe spleen injury.

At least 5 Killed in Orion Tour Bus Crash Near Soledad Calif.

The Soledad tour bus crash happened just a little before 3:30 p.m., Pacific time. The Orion tour bus threw four passengers from the large tour bus, sending one passenger over the side of a bridge and on some adjacent railroad tracks about 50 feet down. News footage shows passenger baggage and reports by Orion tour bus accident lawyers indicate that bodies were thrown onto U.S. 101 in Soledad, California, near San Francisco to the South.

Monterey County Office of Emergency Services confirms five dead so far. Several died later at the hospital. 36 passengers were riding in the Orion tour bus, 34 being French tourists and a Canadian tour guide. The bus driver is believed to be a U.S citizen.

The tour bus started the trip from San Francisco, and was on the way to Southern California. The French, were supposed to go to LAX and fly back to France. The Orion Pacific tour bus was thrown on the side soon after it crashed into a guard rail on the two-lane southbound overpass.

Orion Pacific is allegedly a family-operated charter bus service in the City of Orange. No one said yet who has chartered the bus that crashed in Soledad. The CHP shut down both directions of the freeway and as of this story the southbound lanes are still closed. Tour bus accident attorneys will probably be busy in this case.
