Hoover Dam Tour Bus Crashes—6 Fatalities And At Least 16 Sustained Injuries

January 30, 2009 (by Otto Smyth) According to reports by California bus accident lawyers, the Arizona Department of Public Safety has stated that a tour bus has crashed and overturned on Friday at approximately 4:00 p.m.

According to DPS spokesperson Lt. James Warriner the officers at the scene of the overturned tour bus stated they confirmed six passengers fatally injured during the crash. It is also reported that at least 16 passengers were injured during the crash, but there has been no release of the extent of the injuries.

The tour bus accident closed down U.S. Route 93 in both directions and occurred in the vicinity of mile marker 27, it is the main route from Phoenix to Las Vegas.

Lt. Warriner also stated the cause of the crash is unknown at this time and the injured passengers were transported by helicopter to the University Medical Center in Las Vegas according to spokesperson for the medical center Rick Plummer. There were also some injured passengers transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center in Kingman.

According to the National Park Service spokesman Andrew Munoz there was a motorcyclist injured as a result of trying to avoid the bus.
