December 22, 2011 - According to reports a school bus driver has been arrested for allegedly molesting children in Laguna Hills.

According to the Orange County’s Sheriff’s Department the school bus driver identified as Norman Crawford age 37 was arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts against three children. The children were believed to have been molested inside of Crawford’s apartment in Laguna Hills, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino. Crawford’s apartment is in the 2500 block of Stockport Street and he took the children there after earning their parents trust.

Amormino stated that two of the children were under the age of 14 and the third child was three years old. One of the children’s grandmothers went to authorities and Crawford was arrested and booked in the county jail on Wednesday, after the child told her. The children that were allegedly molested under the age of 14 are identified as a boy and girl.

 Crawford who is being held at the Theo Lacy Jail on $100,000 bail has been a bus driver for 12 for the First Student Transportation Services and drove bus for several schools in Orange County, according to Amormino. Crawford is expected to appear in court on Friday.

May 20, 2011 - According to authorities a tour bus and car were involved in a deadly crash Thursday in Pomona.

Los Angeles Fire Department Inspector Matt Levesque stated the collision occurred in the area of North Town Avenue and East San Bernardino Avenue south of the I-10 Freeway. The crash occurred at approximately 8:33 a.m.

According to fire officials there was no one injured on the bus, and other reports stated the bus was not carrying passengers at the time of the crash.

February 21, 2011 - According to reports a Pasadena church bus crashed in the San Bernardino mountains killing one and injuring two dozen.

According to the California Highway Patrol as many as two dozen people were injured and one person killed when a church bus collided with a Nissan Murano. The head-on accident occurred on Highway 189 in the vicinity north of Lake Gregory Road.

The church bus was from the Light of Love Mission Church in Pasadena and was carrying middle and high school teens, when the head-on collision caused the bus to slide off the road, striking a power pole and going about 20 feet down a snow covered embankment. According to the California Highway Patrol the roads were wet at the time of the head-on collision, but were not icy.

At least ten people sustained serious injuries in the San Bernardino bus crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. Thirteen others sustained mild to moderate injuries, according to Cal Fire spokesman Bill Peters, including numerous broken bones, scrapes and bruises.

The two people in the Nissan that was involved in the collision suffered minor to moderate injuries. October 26, 2010-In what has ben a rash of school bus accidents in the United States, one bus accident in Los Angeles, and now, according to reports, six Raymond N.H. students were injured in a school bus crash.

According to police in New Hampshire a school bus was rear ended by a tow truck resulting in the injuries of six elementary school children.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 102 and Dana Lane in Redmond, when the bus was stopped at usual pickup at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Six of the elementary students were injured in the rear end crash and transported to the hospital for observation.

According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Miguel Luevano beside the pedestrian that was struck and killed, 18 students were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The bus driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Three boys that are suspected of being in the car that struck and killed the pedestrian and broadsided the school bus could be charged according to the authorities.

Luevanao stated the driver that tried to flee and was stopped by witnesses until police arrived could be charged with felony hit-and-run and manslaughter charges. The other boys that tried to flee from the scene of the accident could face conspiracy charges.

July 25, 2010-According to reports the widow of Greyhound crash victim Tomas Ponce listed in critical condition after surgery.

Sinforosa Arreola age 77 and victim of the Highway 99 Greyhound bus crash has been listed in critical condition according to spokeswoman Mary Lisa Russell of Community Regional Medical Center. Arreola was the wife of Tomas Ponce that was killed in the Greyhound crash.

Arreola fractured both arms and legs, along with broken ribs, underwent surgery late Thursday, according to family members to remove blood that had collected in her lungs from her injuries. Tomas Ponce, Arreola’s husband was transported to Community Regional Medical Center after the crash where he died. The bus crash also took the life of fellow passenger Epifania Solis age 60 and the Greyhound bus driver identified as James Charles Jewett.

According to Russell, spokesperson for Community Regional Medical Center Arreola’s medical condition has worsened and she has been listed in critical condition.

Greyhound Crash Victim Says it was Pandemonium

July 22, 2010-One passenger says the Greyhound bus crash that killed six people was pandemonium. The Highway 99 Greyhound bus crash near Fresno that injured dozens and killed six was bound for Sacramento. The accident that involved other vehicles occurred after 2:00 a.m. in the vicinity of McKinley Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

There were forty-eight people on the bus traveling northbound and there were approximately 30 people injured in the crash. The people that were fatally injured have only been identified as four men and two women. The driver has been identified as one of the people killed in the crash.

There were approximately nine people that were not seriously injured in the crash and were put on another bus to continue to the Greyhound station on L Street in Sacramento. According to passenger Arlen Snider it was pandemonium. Snider stated he was sleeping at the time of the accident and helped others to escape the wrecked bus and people were everywhere.

The Greyhound bus has been identified as No. 30601 and had departed from Los Angeles Wednesday in route to Sacramento and was following schedule No. 6888. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Mechelle Sigmond the bus driver swerved to avoid an overturned Chevrolet Trailblazer, which caused the bus to hit the center divider and then strike a tree.

Sigmond stated the crash occurred on Highway 99 at approximately 2:14 a.m. and was leaving Fresno traveling north for a stop in Madera. According to Greyhound representative Timothy Stokes the bus line is cooperating with the California Highway Patrol in the bus crash investigation.

Officials are investigating a bus accident in Disney World’s Fort Wilderness that struck and killed a nine-year old boy according to Florida Highway Patrol Officer Sgt. Kim Montes.

The boy was riding a bike along with an 11 year old girl when he was struck by the bus, the girl was not injured. According to Sgt. Montes both children were wearing helmets at the time of the accident and the bus was traveling in the same direction as the children riding the bikes.

Sgt. Montes stated there was a sidewalk without a curb when it appears the boy crossed the road in front of the bus and hit the middle of the bus. The child was then pulled under the right rear tire.

According to authorities the accident occurred at approximately 4:13 a.m. Friday on Interstate 5 in the vicinity of Burena Vista Street, when a car slammed into the back of a stalled big rig.

The tractor trailer truck accident was caused when the rig broke down in one of the lanes on Interstate 5, which the vehicle described as a white sedan drove into the back of the semi. The driver of the sedan is believed to have been killed in the crash that backed southbound traffic on the 5 Freeway for miles while the scene of the accident was being investigated. According to the Virginia State Police the rollover tour bus accident occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. approximately 40 miles south of Richmond on Interstate 85, killing one person and injuring nine others aboard the tour bus.

According to reports Miley Cyrus was not traveling on the bus at the time of the accident and the tour bus is one of four buses that were traveling to Greenboro North Carolina where the teen singer is scheduled to appear on Sunday.

The Cyrus family has released their support and prayers for the man killed in the accident identifying him as the driver of the bus, an Austin Texas native Bill “Uncle Bill” Douglas age 53. Douglas died at the scene of the rollover.

The nine other passengers sustained minor injuries and were able to escape the over turned tour bus through the front windshield according to reports. Their identities have not been released.

The accident took place near rice fields and orchards that were searched by firefighters with flashlights and infrared sensors on Sunday night near the crash site for possible victims.

According to Landreth there were no other vehicles involved and at least 37 passengers and the driver were transported to area hospitals.

Six of the crash victims were taken to the Enloe Medical Center; four were in serious condition and two in critical condition according to released information. Other area hospitals included the Colusa Regional Medical Center, Mercy Sa Juan Medical Center, Sutter Roseville Medical Center, UC Davis Medical Center and Woodland Memorial Hospital. The victims of the crash were not only transported by medical emergency vehicles, but also by medevac helicopters.

The bus had Greyhound markings on it and a Greyhound official has stated that the bus was no longer operated by Greyhound and was sold over two years ago. According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Robert Kays the bus carried a Texas license plate that was not valid as well as the registration serial numbers that came up invalid.

According to reports a Metro bus accident Sunday closed down the northbound lanes in the vicinity of Rosemead Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard.

Los Angeles School Bus Accidents are on the Rise

WALNUT - Los Angeles school bus accidents are on the rise. The CHP is investigating a school bus v. pedestrian accident that occurred back on 10-26-07 involving a school bus that ran over a woman, killing her in front of small children at an elementary school.

The bus accident took place in front of C. J. Morris Elementary School located at the 19800 block of Calle Baja, Walnut, California. The first reported of the school bus accident took place at 2:46 p.m.

The bus was said to have lost control, jumping over a curb, breaking through a chain-link fence and coming to rest at a concrete parking area. The out of control bus is said to have crashed into many others as well, including some small children.

The driver of the Walnut Valley Unified School District bus #31, was not available for questioning. The school closed down for several hours.

Los Angeles County fire department, sheriff's official and the California Highway Patrol are still investigating.
